Clinical trial statistician/data analyst (2-year contract)
Location: Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University (close to Victory Monument)
The Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) is a vibrant, longstanding multinational medical research collaboration based in the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. MORU wishes to recruit a statistician/data analyst (background: undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or other quantitative disciplines) to work as the main data analyst for the PLATCOV clinical trial. PLATCOV is a multi-country (Thailand, Brazil, Pakistan, Lao PDR and elsewhere) adaptive platform trial which is assessing antiviral drugs in early COVID-19 infections. The main clinical site in Thailand is the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. Data are gathered in near real time and the analyses will inform key decisions such as stopping interventions for success or futility.
The day to day work would involve:
Developing the statistical analysis pipeline which takes as input longitudinal viral load PCR data, virus genotyping data, and clinical data.
Running weekly iterations of the statistical models, and improving the models over time;
Writing bi-weekly reports on the trial status for the data safety monitoring team and the clinical trial steering group.
Key requirements for the job are:
Knowledge of statistical model fitting
Basic knowledge of computer programming in R or Python (or another main language) and familiarity with version control tools such as GitHub
Enthusiasm and willingness to engage and work with clinicians and laboratory technicians
