Background of the project
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst human-itarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provide assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.
IRC will provide a broad range of protection services to newly arrived refugees identified within the Royal Thai Government’s “safety zones”, “holding areas” and informal settings. Protection monitoring by the IRC and a network of local implementing partners and community-based organizations (CBOs) will be the primary means to identify key protection risks for populations.
Scope of work
Under the supervision of the LAC Deputy Coordinator for Protection Main-streaming, The Audio Radio Clip for Community Protection and Legal Awareness Consultant will work closely with the LAC Deputy Coordinator for Protection Mainstreaming, Senior Training Officer with closely technical support from LAC Coordinator to develop and produce Audio Radio Scrips and Audio Clips for Community Protection and Legal Awareness Activities for refugees in Karenni Languages to ensure the Karenni refugee communities will receive an update and timely accurately information on protection, legal knowledge and available services to promote and empower refugees to assert their rights and access their remedies.
Responsibilities:
• Develop radio and scripts base on the current Burmese and English of 2 topics, which are Access to Justice (4 clips) and Child Protection (2 Clips).
• The 6 episodes of radio clips (each episode will be 5 minutes ) in to Ka-renni language on Community Protection and Legal Awareness related themes
• Able to transform clear and understandable content to Karenni language for Karenni refugee communities
• Coordinate closely with IRC to ensure the transforming the key messages are developed and finalized audio scrips dialog according to the Original Burmese and English audio scrips.
Deliverables:
• A first topic the access to justice audio clips (4 clips) to be submitted
๐ By the 25th June for the IRC to review and comment.
๐ By the 30th June for the final product.
• A Second topic on the Child Protection audio clips (2 clips) to be sub-mit
๐ By the 10th July for the IRC to review and comment
๐ By the 15th July for the final product.
Payment Rate and Schedule:
• The payment amount will be based on the length of each audio clip.
๐ The Access to Justice (4 clips) the approximately total length will be between 20-23 minutes
๐ The child protection (2 clips): the approximately total length will be between 10-13 minutes
• The payment will be paid 5 days after the contractor submits the last audio clip product with the approval of IRC Protection and Access to Justice
Requirements:
Education:
• Minimum High School Diploma with relevant experience.
Work Experience:
• At least 3 years working experience on develop and produce dialog an au-dio scrip and audio clips and any other type of medias.
• Prior work experience as recording engineer, voice over, scripts translator or similar.
• Work experience using studio recording software.
• Experience in using soundtracks and add sound effects in audio clips.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated skills:
• The contractor has demonstrated ability to foster strong collaborative partner relations based on principles of mutual trust and respect, mutual accountability, reciprocity, inclusion and transparency.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills of English and Burmese/Karenni.
• Good knowledge of issues relating to refugee and displaced people.
• The contractor has experience and successfully on develop and produce dialog and audio clip and other type of medias.
• Able to work independently.
Languages and computer skills:
• Able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English skills plus Karenni and Karen/or Burmese
• Skilled in voice over
• Good computer skills and Competent in Windows, MS office programs and other relevant technology
• A full and fluent knowledge of recording or studio software
• Strong Computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point
