Main Purpose of the role
The Wildlife Project Manager provides expertise across the range of World Animal Protection Thailand’s projects and campaigns. They will be part of the Thailand campaign team to deliver World Animal Protection’s wildlife campaigns, utilizing their knowledge and skills in campaigning, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
Accountabilities
- Providing strategic input in the formulation of strategic projects and being accountable for their delivery.
- Ensuring campaigns are informed and capable of achieving Thailand’s wildlife campaign objectives that contribute to the global wildlife strategy.
- Complying with World Animal Protection’s policies and procedure.
Duties and Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement
- Managing relationships with wild animal organisations to support the improvement of wildlife welfare in Thailand.
- Carrying out due diligence and high-quality assessment of grant applications and proposed projects and partnerships to deliver strategic campaign objectives
- Drafting contracts and relevant documents to the grants, ensuring all documents are properly submitted and signed by all parties.
- Working with the finance team to ensure that World Animal Protection’s financial and reporting policies and procedures are properly followed.
- Planning and tracking expenditure of grantees, producing regular financial reports of all grants to inform teams.
Project Management
- Acting as a bridge between grantees, the Thai team, and international team to ensure smooth communications among internal and external stakeholders.
- Management support for building World Animal Protection’s relationships with business owners, local authorities, and associations relevant to the delivery of World Animal Protection Thailand’s wildlife campaigns and related projects
- Overseeing the implementation of all wildlife projects that receive grants from World Animal Protection in Thailand.
- Liaise with animal welfare experts to ensure technical support and advice is followed with all stakeholder relationships
- Provide risk management support in developing people powered campaigns to deliver World Animal Protection objectives in Thailand
- Undertake the monitoring and evaluation process of all Thailand’s wildlife campaigns and projects.
- Produce annual reports suitable for internal and external requirements, on progress against World Animal Protection’s wildlife campaign objectives.
- Face to face meetings with key stakeholders to ensure progress against project objectives.
Campaign Coordination and Liaison
- Working closely with Head of Programmes and Campaign Manager – Wildlife to develop an approach and campaign plans that deliver Thailand’s wildlife campaign objectives
- Providing information and content to the fundraising team to ensure regular effective communication with donors
- Acting as a spokesperson and represent World Animal Protection in relevant platforms.
- Work with communications colleagues to draft and publish reactive statements, articles and other content as needed.
- Carrying out administrative duties in relation to campaign activities, including budget management, contract development, event management, monitoring and evaluation and reporting and any other tasks as reasonably requested.
- Keep up to date with key issues of relevance to World Animal Protection’s wildlifestrategy, identifying opportunistic campaign opportunities and actions.
- Contributing to organisational strategy development and activity planning where required.
Organisational responsibilities
- Delivery of World Animal Protection’s Global Strategy across the core themes of Mission, Movement & Transformation in a global, matrix environment
- Work cooperatively with external organisations, teams within World Animal Protection and in the wider animal welfare movement to pursue programme objectives and wider organisational goals, including those relating to brand, communications, fundraising and resource management.
- Actively participate in building our brand and maintain the integrity of our brand to support our profile, lead generation, income and engagement.
- Help secure resources (income) and reach people and partnerships by actively contributing to our supporter relationships, fundraising, communications, and donor reporting.
- Actively participate and support the organisation to ensure that we manage our resources (financial, staff and IT) efficiently and effectively through improvement of systems, reporting and compliance.
- Contribute to a learning culture and create a positive working environment for staff.
- The role holder will from time to time be required to undertake any other duties that are within the scope of this role.
- Take responsibility for their own health, safety and welfare, comply with H&S policy and procedures, and not act in any way that compromises the safety of themselves, colleagues or the public.
- The post holder may be required to travel internationally to provide support or participate in World Animal Protection’s activities as and when required.
- The post holder will be required to maintain confidentiality of information
- Comply with requirements related to the relevant Privacy and/or Data Protection Acts that apply to the work being conducted by the post holder (For example this may include the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and any local Privacy and Data laws and Regulations).
Skills and Experience
Essential

- Strong project manager, with experience of managing complex relationships to deliver campaign objectives.
- Team player with excellent co-ordination skills and ability to develop and maintain good working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communicator, and able to constructively engage external and internal stakeholders, to develop and deliver project solutions.
- Ability to assimilate and analyse information quickly, particularly in relation to animal welfare and wildlife policies and issues, and to effectively use this to inform campaign tactics and strategies.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills in Thai and English.
- Experience in creating and managing budgets.
- Works well under pressure of deadlines.
- Flexible to undertake national and some international travel.
- Understanding of global, regional, and national socio-economic trends.
- A passion for animal welfare and a strong commitment to the aims and values of World Animal Protection.
Qualifications
- A university degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience of working on animal-based projects in Thailand
Desirable
- Good knowledge in animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and tourism industry.
- Experience of working effectively with internal and external stakeholders in Thailand.
- Experience of working in an international NGO environment.
- Experience working within a matrix environment, across multiple projects in a medium/large sized organisation.
