ABOUT THE ROLE

The Finance Manager oversees all aspects of financial operations for Cuttlefish Digital in Thailand and Hong Kong. They’ll make sure finances are planned, managed, and tracked. This means providing accurate, efficient and timely financial reports, financial forecasting, budgeting, monitoring accounts and book-keeping. They’ll create and continually improve processes to help budget holders and project leads make informed decisions for campaigns and for the future development of the organisation.

In this role, the Finance Manager will:

• Manage day to day running of the financial function, including payments, reconciliation, bookkeeping, month-end reports, and tax submissions.

• Develop and implement accounting systems and processes to support project leads and our operational needs.

• Prepare and manage the organisational budget, including controlling, monitoring, and analysing projected vs actual expenditure.

• Prepare the annual year-end financial statements and be responsible for the year-end audit.

• Prepare cash flow and forecast reports, working with the Director and Senior Operations Manager to ensure sufficient funds are available for our campaigns and operations.

• Staff payroll management, including ensuring accurate calculation of applicable benefits, welfare, and personal income tax.

• Act as a focal point for related financial matters to teams, partners and external auditors.

• Manage relationships with local vendors and corporate banking contacts.

• Develop and document financial processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

• Assist budget owners in understanding their management accounts and provide training where necessary.

This is a brand new role in a growing team, reporting to the Senior Operations Manager.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & PROFILE

• Significant demonstrated work experience in implementing policies & procedures of finance, accounting, budgeting and internal controls.

• A qualified accountant with significant experience in international financial management. Experience in managing multiple accounts

• Bachelor's degree or higher education in the field of advanced financial management and/or accounting,.

• Advance skills in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets, Microsoft Office, and accounting software such as Xero.

• Good understanding of accounting principles and standards and applicable laws.

• Demonstrated overseeing budgets with multiple projects and donors, monitoring and finance reports.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Flexible and able to work independently

• Comfortable working in a remote environment, using tools like Slack, Monday.com, Trello, Zoom, and Google Suite

Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of one or more Bengali, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mandarin, Thai, or Vietnamese would be an advantage but not essential for this role. Please note this is a home-based position. As we’re not able to offer sponsorship for a business visa or work permit at this time, you must have the right to work in your chosen location.

DATES OF CONSULTANCY

We can offer you a 12-month, fixed-term contract (including a 3-month probationary period) with the possibility of extending contingent on funding.
