Project Coordinator - Building a local eco-tourism network of community-based enterprises for Thailand’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery project (SCF)

 

Contract: Fiexed term 1 year with possibility of extension

Location based: Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai

 

Plan International is an international humanitarian, child-centered development organization, advancing children’s rights and equality for girls.

 

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Project Coordinator will be a focal person to coordinate with ethnic girls and young women and communities as well as the collaboration between the SCF project and other project key stakeholders in particular related local government agencies and entrepreneurship skills training institutions, in target areas (Chiang-Mai and Chiang-Rai) in Thailand.  The position is based in Chiang-Rai or Chiang-Mai with a substantial amount of time traveling to field locations to monitor the project activities.  The Project Coordinator may be required to travel to the Country Office (CO) in Bangkok. 

The person in this position will lead the capacity building and upskill trainings for the project beneficiaries on entrepreneurship focusing on community-based eco-tourism as well as mentor/ coach them throughout the practice sessions to effectively and efficiently implement interventions in the project’s work plan and achieve the overall goal of the project as outlined in the project documents.

In association with the Project Manager, successful implementation of the project’s activities which lead to expected outcomes and impact is the ultimate goal of this position. The person in this position will handle the coordination with relevant stakeholders, and resource persons in close coordination with the Deputy Country Director, Programme Innovation & Impact and the Country Office. S/he will be responsible for recruiting potential ethnic girls and young women as the project beneficiaries as well as facilitate and manage all of the require capacity building and upskill training sessions.

The Project Coordinator of the SCF project will have to ensure an effective working relationship with relevant local government agencies, training institutions, and consultants (if any) to ensure quality program delivery.  S/he represents the SCF project on behalf of Plan International Thailand to the project beneficiaries, girls and young people and community people in the project target areas.

Roles and responsibility

 

  • Recruit potential young people, especially girls and young women (60% aged 16-35) as the project beneficiaries and build common understanding on the SCF project to the communities of the project beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with trainers/resource persons from related government agencies and entrepreneurship skills training institutions to conduct relevant capacity building and upskill training sessions for the project beneficiaries.
  • Arrange required logistics and venues for all trainings.
  • Support trainers/resource persons for training materials and equipment.
  • Support the project beneficiaries during training sessions.
  • Monitor the progress of the project beneficiaries and mentor/coach them throughout the training and practice sessions.
  • Coordinate with Child Projection specialist and Gender specialist to ensure that all training activities are implemented in line with Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and met the minimum standard of gender transformative programming and influencing approaches of Plan International.
  • Assist the Project Manager to ensure effective collaboration with project key partners including the Standard Chartered Bank (Thai) as well as related government agencies/ training institutes and other resource persons.
  • Establish and maintain good working and learning relationships across Thailand Country Office and networking.
  • Assist the Project Manager to respond donor queries and coordinate their field visits.
  • Perform other tasks of the SCF project as assigned by the Project Manager.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Ensure that all ethnic girls and young women can fully and actively participate in the project activities as the project beneficiaries.
  • Ensure that the project achieves the target numbers of 800 participants that directly benefit from this project, especially girls and young women (60% aged 16-35).
  • Ensure that the project organizes all training sessions and for the project beneficiaries in accordance to the project implementation plan.
  • Ensure the good relationship with trainers/resource persons/ consultants of all training sessions and courses.
  • Understanding background of working with ethnic young people and community people, and have ability to strengthening community empowerment especially girls and young women.
  • Ability to work with children, youth, local community, and other stakeholders and networks.
  • Ability to assess/analyst situation and to resolve issues.
  • Ability to communicate across projects/programs.
  • Properly handles the administrative supports as required.
  • All assigned tasks/jobs are implemented accurately and timely in compliance with Plan International’s corporate financial/ accounting/administration policies and procedures.
