Background of the project
The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son province. IRC provides primary health care and Environmental health service in several refugee camps in Thailand.
Today, IRC provides preventive and curative health care services in the camp of Maela, Um Piem and Nupo (Tak province) including primary health care, reproductive health, neonatal care and health education. Currently, IRC is also taking part in a research project, namely “Integrating an Evidence-Based Mental Health Intervention into Non-Communicable Disease Care”, which is funded as part of ELRHA’s Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) to IRC, Johns Hopkins University and Khon Kaen University. The project aims to examine the integration of an evidenced-based mental health intervention into existing non-communicable disease (NCD) care models, implemented by IRC in Thailand refugee camps to compare health outcomes, factors influencing treatment compliance, and costs between intervention and control groups. It will be taken place in Mae La camp until December 2023.
Scope of work
CETA training will take place in a hybrid live and remote format to accommodate training barriers related to COVID-19 and travel restrictions between Myanmar, the US, and Thailand. The training will utilize technology to display CETA training videos and connect providers in Thailand to trainers in Yangon. Once training is complete and counselors begin seeing clients, local supervisors will continue to receive oversight from Yangon-based CETA trainers through weekly trainer calls.
Translator will translate video scripts, from English to Burmese, that will be used as subtitle for CETA training videos in CETA counselor training. To complete the high quality of translation, the translator needs to consult and check for accuracy with MHPSS Research Manager (IRC- R2HC project). The translator has to submit the finish translation documents upon the agreement with IRC-R2HC team.
Deliverables:
The lite of topic will be document related to CETA counseling (evidence based mental health intervention) training.
Requirements:
Education: High school
Work Experience: at least 2 years of translation experience, experience in counseling related translation is preferable
Demonstrated skills: Competency, Confidentiality, Able to work independently
Languages and computer skills: Influent in English and Burmese.
Strong Computer skills specifically Microsoft Word
