Just Economy and Labor Institute (JELI) seeks an experienced and strategic Program Manager to coordinate several projects on gig workers research, advocacy, and empowerment.
*JELI is a non-profit organization working to promote social justice and ensure the protection of labor rights in Southeast Asia by empowering workers & working-class communities, and producing strategic research for campaigns and policies aimed at achieving a just economy and society. We support workers and labor organizations by offering educational and capacity-building programs. We also partner with rights-based organizations that share our vision and mission to conduct research and propose policy recommendations aimed at achieving economic and labor justice.
Position: Program Manager (full-time)
Seniority Level: Mid-level
Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 THB, based on experience and qualifications (negotiable)
Location: Bangkok
Employee Benefits and Welfare: social security (i.e. section 33) contribution; work-related expenses such as internet, telephone and travel expenses are reimbursed
Primary responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and monitor a team in day-to-day operations
- Plan and monitor project implementation based on JELI’s strategic priorities
- Oversee team members to ensure goals are met
Interface with key funders and partners, mostly international
- Cooperate with relevant team members to provide progress reports and technical reports to project funders, mostly international
Secondary/occasional duties:
- Provide operational support with minimal supervision
- Participate and represent JELI in partner meetings and events as needed
- Assist the Director with developing, implementing and evaluating
- Assist the Director with monitoring the program budget, board relationships, and funders
- May be requested to perform duties outside of normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed
Expectations for candidates to be successful in this position:
- Ability to prioritize tasks with strong organizational skills
- Ability to utilize tools or design systems and processes to track data and monitor progress
- Ability to work with teams in different time zones
- Strongly believes in social and economic justice and workers’ collective power
- Passion in labor justice, feminist values and social changes
Experience and skills required:
- Experience with nonprofit organizations. Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity in labor rights, advocacy and capacity-building projects
- At least five years of management positions, with at least two years in nonprofit management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Thai, and good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrates necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally-competent work
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social sciences or humanities
