Introduction
The Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) is a field station of the faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, and is part of the Mahidol-Oxford Research Unit (MORU) supported by the Wellcome Trust, UK. The main objective of SMRU is to provide quality health care to the marginalised populations living on both sides of the Thai-Myanmar border in the Mae Sot area, Tak province. This is achieved by the dual activities of research and humanitarian services, with an emphasis on maternal-child health and infectious diseases.
SMRU is based in Mae Sot where the main laboratories are based and received samples from sites along the Thai-Myanmar border.

Probation: SMRU can terminate employment at 3 months if performance inadequate
Report to: Logistic Manager
Responsibilities:
- Process procurement flow according to SMRU SOPs (obtain quotes and grant code, bid analysis or approval form, prepare PR/PO, ensure the accuracy of programs supplies deliveries) by using the Net Suite Online system.
- Update vendor information, supplies list, price, specification for internal use.
- Assist logistic manager to prepare and update annual procurement plan with department then request approval form donor (Global fund, UNOPs, RTF)
- Assist Logistic Manager to prepare quarterly procurement report.
- Working in team for goods receive and coordinate with lab team for goods handling.
- Together with Lab data enter update lab and medical equipment list and filing.
- Ensure lab equipment and asset adhere with SMRU SOPs and update lab equipment and inventory (asset & equipment) report to logistic manager.
- Coordinate for medical and lab equipment calibration and repairing
- Being a focal person for laboratory goods procurement and receive and update procurement process in the template.
- Focal person for local and international supply lab sample shipping under guidance of Logistic Manager.
- Other duties as requested by the unit.
Qualification:
Essential Criteria
- A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. business studies, management, medical technology, laboratory).
- Fluency in Thai and English (spoken and written).
- Computing skills – ability to work with Microsoft Office and database applications.
- Organisational skills – ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Able to work independently but to also interact well within a team environment.
- Able to work under pressure
- Ready for any assignment required the department
Desirable Criteria
- Prior experience of laboratory management (clinical or research-based).
