Location:                    Maesot, Tak, Thailand

Background/IRC Summary:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devas-tated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.

 

Job Overview/Summary: 

The Finance Assistant works as part of the Mae Sot finance team to perform of the day-to-day finance and accounting activities in Mae Sot, including managing the financial documents filing, cash and bank disbursement and payments to third parties.

 

Major Responsibilities:

-  Stamp all transactions as “PAID” once each transaction has been processed and is ready for filing.

-  Follow-up on invoices for materials and supplies with procurement staff and program staff for payments.

-  Photocopy and scan all necessary documents filling system.

-  Assist Finance and Operation teams in preparing and payment CBAs stipend in camps.

-  Assist in pressing paid for the item that has been paid in BvA system.

-  Ensure all the financial documents are properly filed and tagged per requirements.

-  Assist Finance team in general support such as going to bank.                 

-  Assist Finance and Supply Chain teams in inventory cycle counting.

-  Assist in entry cash and bank transactions in excel spreadsheet.

-  Assist in calculating withholding tax in compliance with the revenue’s rules and regulations by twice a month.

-  Provide coverage of duties in the absence of the Finance Officer as required.

-  Assist in obtaining budget holder approval of finance documents such as payment requests, TRs, and PRs for each program.

-  Perform any other duties to support Finance Department.

-  Learn and understand the forms, process, procedure, rule, regulation and strictly follow.

-  Take responsibility for the work and accomplish the task as assigned daily to support Operations and Program Activities.

-  Manage and completed all assignment on the specified time without any errors.

 

 

Key Working Relationships:

 

Position Reports to:  Senior Finance Officer

Indirect Reporting: Deputy Field Coordinator-Ops

Other Internal and/or external contacts:

            Internal: Programs, Operations Departments and Finance Bangkok

            External: Bank, Vendors, and Revenue Department of Thailand

 

Job Requirements:

 

Education

•  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or relevant field.

 

Work Experience and/or Demonstrated Abilities

•  Minimum of 1-year relevant work experience in similar position.

 

Required skills

•  Experience with accounting system.

•  Ability to manage multiple tasks, respond to urgent requests and meet regular deadlines.

•  Effective time management skills.

•  Positive attitude and excellent service mind.

•  Good interpersonal and communication skills.

•  Computer Literacy (Excel, Word, Internet).

 

Language Skills:         

•  Good command of Thai and English languages skills.

•  Good interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Working Environment:

The position will be based in Mae Sot, a town in the North of Thailand, with extensive travel to three refugee camps Mae- La, Umpiem and Nupo camps.
