LOCATION: Chiang Mai

COMPENSATION: Based on work experience and mutual agreement

CONTRACT TERM: Employment contract will be renewed on a yearly basis. Renewing the contract for subsequent years will be considered based on current performance. A three month work trial will take place before extending the initial contract term to one year.

SCHEDULE: The applicant will be expected to work five days per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF ASSIGNMENT: As soon as possible

SCOPE OF WORK

The Translator / Interpreter will be responsible for interpreting for daily Bible classes each day from 8:30-12:00.  In the afternoon, this person will be responsible for converting written materials and / or spoken messages from English into Thai, ensuring translated texts and messages convey the original meaning and tone. This will include translating multiple forms of communications such as Christian books, newsletters, social media posts, workbooks, sermon outlines, and video transcriptions. This is a full-time position and as such, the candidate will be expected to keep and maintain regular office hours at the GBBI Campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Interprets written and spoken material into Thai, ensuring correct biblical meaning and context are maintained

2. Ensure that interpretations are accurate and remain consistent.

3. Translate Pre-Recorded sermons by providing subtitles and / or voice over

4. Translate articles and other written material for use at Grace Baptist Bible Institute

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3-4 years of experience in translation 

2. Professing, like minded, Christian bearing fruits

3. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies or Theology required

4. Fluency in English and Thai required.
