Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated, and experienced Thai national for the position as Area Coordinator.

 

PROJECT COORDINATOR

 

Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Work locations: Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei Districts with visits in the field

Duration: 10 months with potential for extension

Salary range: 70,000-80,000 THB/month (including benefits)

Supervisor: Project Coordinator

Supervisee: Clinical Supervisor, Midwife, Translator, Nurse, Community Health Supervisor and WASH Officer, M&E Officer, closely liaises with support unit staff (finance, Logistics, admin/HR)

 

Main Responsibilities/Duties

  1. Lead the Area 1 team coordination in all preparation and implementation of refugee influx response in the mandated fields of Health and WASH.

  2. Ensure project objectives and indicators are followed and activities and targets are reached.

  3. Prepare and update detailed workplans together with the project team.

  4. Undertake regular field visits to target areas to monitor and oversee activities implemented by team members and volunteers from the target communities.

  5. Support Admin HR Officer in recruitment of project staff by drafting JDs and tools for recruitment and in securing access to target area for staff and materials.

  6. In close collaboration with support unit prepare material request needs for procurement considerations or use of stock inventory for the project.

  7. Assist IEC/BCC Officer in developing relevant IEC and visibility materials for target audience.

  8. Closely collaborate with the Finance Officer to understand budget limitations and needs.

  9. In close collaboration with the M&E officer ensure all services are monitored and evaluated and that accountability towards beneficiaries is upheld through feedback and response mechanism.

  10. Regularly monitor and ensure project stock items are utilized correctly and safeguarded before being deployed.

  11. Complete data input for project specific database on a regular basis, in close coordination with other staff.

  12. Deputize for the Project Coordinator if and when needed.

  13. Closely liaise with relevant Thai departments and authorities in the target districts of Mae Sariang and Sob-Moei on all matter related to displaced persons influx preparedness and response.

  14. Closely coordinate with other (I)NGOs, UN and CBOs engaged with the target community.

  15. Represent MI Thailand, as requested, in coordination meetings set-up sector-wise or geographically in relation to displaced persons influx.

  16. Regular and ad-hoc reporting in accordance with MI and Donor guidelines or as per need.

 

 

 

 

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in fields like development, business administration or other relevant studies with Public Health or similar considered an advantage.

Alternatively: Medical Doctor with project implementation and management experience.

  1. 5+ years of experience working with International IO/NGO in development, humanitarian aid or similar

  2. Previous experience working with refugees and/or humanitarian aid projects considered a strong advantage

  3. High sense of integrity and confidentiality with ability to work and cope with stress.

  4. Strong analytical thinking, prioritization of tasks and problem-solving skills

  5. Good computer skills with MS package (MS Word and Excel and Powerpoint)

  6. Excellent English (spoken and written) and fluent in Thai.

  7. Ability to speak, read and write Sgaw Karen is considered an advantage.

 

Starting date: As soon as possible.
