Position Summary:
As part of the Asia Pacific regional technical and program quality team, the Senior Technical Officer will provide technical support and guidance related to thought leadership, research conduct and knowledge product development to staff and partners in the region and in country offices. The Senior Technical Officer will also implement and monitor related initiatives, produce related scientific and technical content and develop and/or adapt and implement capacity building initiatives, including training, coaching and mentoring. This position will also contribute to business development.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Provides technical support to research design and conduct, such as reviewing protocols and data collection tools, study reports and draft manuscripts/conference abstracts.
Builds capacity in research conduct, knowledge product generation and FHI 360 and relevant donor policies and procedures and provides quality assurance.
Contributes to regional processes for ensuring quality of program implementation.
Authors and/or assists with production of manuscripts, technical briefs, reports, other publications and documents.
Contributes content for, produces and/or edits content for web pages and presentations.
Conducts searches of published literature, particularly toward production of thought leadership products.
Monitors and maintains protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals, training materials and reports.
Provides support to business and proposal development, particularly related to research, learning and monitoring and evaluation.
In collaboration with APRO Data Manager and Program Management Unit, develops and manages database to support APRO’s implementation of technical oversight.
Monitors and provides monthly update/progress of APRO’s management priorities that are related to or assigned to SI/M&E Unit
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Master’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Health, International Development, Social Sciences or Related Field.
Five or more years of experience providing technical support for thought leadership activities, including research.
Published in peer review manuscripts.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors, problem solve, take corrective action and prepare reports.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills and demonstrated program/project management skills.
