Position:  Project Officer – TUI Academy Project

Assignment duration: Fixed-Term 1 years Contract with possibility to extend

Duty station: Phang Nga


JOB Purpose:  

The Project Officer (or CoC/Life Skills Trainer/Community Mobiliser) of the TUI Academy project will be a focal person to coordinate with the disadvantage young people and communities in the project target areas as well as the collaboration between the TUI Academy project and other project key partners in particular related government agencies and vocational skills training institutions in target areas (Phang Nga and Phuket) in Thailand.  The position is based in Phang Nga Office with a substantial amount of time traveling to field locations to monitor the project activities, especially to recruit potential disadvantage young people as the project beneficiaries.  The Project Officer (or CoC/Life Skills Trainer/Community Mobiliser) may be required to travel to the Country Office (CO) in Bangkok. 


The person in this position will lead the training activities for the project beneficiaries on Champion of Change (CoC), Life Skills, English Skills and Vocational Skills as well as monitor them during internship period with the partner hotels to effectively and efficiently implement interventions in the project’s work plan and achieve the overall goal of the project as outlined in the project documents.


The Project Officer (or CoC/Life Skills Trainer/Community Mobiliser) of the TUI Academy project will have to ensure an effective working relationship with relevant government agencies and partners to ensure quality program delivery.  S/he represents the TUI Academy project on behalf of Plan International Thailand to the project beneficiaries, potential disadvantage young people and community people in the project target areas.



  • Recruit potential disadvantage young people, especially girls as the project beneficiaries and build common understanding on the TUI Academy project to the communities of the project beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with trainers/resource persons from related government agencies and vocational skills training institutions to conduct relevant training courses for the project beneficiaries.
  • Arrange required logistics and venues for all training courses.
  • Support trainers/resource persons for training materials and equipment.
  • Support the project beneficiaries during training sessions.
  • Monitor the attendance of the project beneficiaries and follow them up to ensure the minimum of 95% attending rate in all training sessions and courses.
  • Coordinate with Child Projection specialist and Gender specialist to ensure that all training activities are implemented in line with Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and met the minimum standard of gender transformative programming and influencing approaches of Plan International.
  • Monitor the project beneficiaries during their internship period and follow them up to ensure 100% attending rate.
  • Assist the Project Manager to ensure effective collaboration with project key partners including the Robinson Club Resort and ECPAT as well as related government agencies/vocational skills training institutes and other hotels.
  • Establish and maintain good working and learning relationships across Thailand Country Office and networking.
  • Assist the Project Manager to respond donor queries and coordinate their field visits.
  • Perform other tasks of the TUI Academy project as assigned by the Project Manager.




Qualifications and experience


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community development and working with young people.  Working areas in Phang Nga and Phuket areas is a plus.
  • Experience in administrative management on organizing training sessions and courses.  Training courses on Life skills, English skills and Vocational skills is a plus.
  • Experience working on tourism industry, hotel business in particular in Phang Nga and Phuket areas is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with all project stakeholders, including public, private, and civil society partners, and to effectively build partnerships with them. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Development, Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Sciences, Sociology, Anthropology, and other related fields. 
  • Understanding of rights-based development, child rights and child protection, decent work opportunities, and gender equity and inclusion.
  • Flexible, cross-culturally aware and adaptable to changes.
