Hiring Graphic Designer to Design FAIR Fish Project IEC’s Materials on COVID-19 Response Activity

  1. Introduction

Plan International Thailand (Plan) is implementing a four-year project, Fostering Accountability in Recruitment for Fishery Workers (FAIR Fish), to reduce forced labor and human trafficking (FL/HT) in the recruitment of women and men in the seafood processing sector in Thailand to support the United States Department of Labor (DOL) Bureau of International Labor Affairs’ (ILAB) Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking (OCFT).

During the COVID-19 pandemic, migrant workers’ vulnerability to exploitation, including forced labor and human trafficking in different forms, has increased due to fast-changing circumstances, language barriers, limited knowledge about their rights, and access to available services. FAIR Fish also believes that while the overall vulnerability of migrant workers has increased, female migrant workers and girls in migrant communities are particularly vulnerable. The FAIR Fish Project plans to address the increasing vulnerability among migrant workers and Thai workers in the project’s pilot companies, their suppliers, and members of their families (especially women and girls) by providing them with information about how they can protect themselves against COVID-19 and become more resilient to the adverse effects of a pandemic in the future.

The project, therefore, would like to focus on the dissemination of information targeting beneficiaries on how to be resilient against the adverse socioeconomic effects of the outbreak. FAIR Fish plans to produce infographic, poster, and leaflet in Thai, Khmer, and Burmese conveying six sets of information, including: 1) COVID-19 and higher risk of forced labor and human trafficking in the worker recruitment process 2) List of channels that workers can get information on changes in policies and regulations regarding the pandemic which affect their stay and work in Thailand 3) Workers’ rights to medical services and financial assistance in Thailand and health-related fringe benefits from their employers 4) What migrant workers should do in their work place if they find out that they are infected with COVID-19. For example, reporting their illness to supervisors 5) How social stigmatization can be reduced and how migrant workers who test positive for COVID-19 can handle social stigmatization 6) Roles and responsibilities of family members in coping with COVID outbreaks
