International Rivers works to protect rivers and the rights of communities that depend on them. Working with an international network of dam-affected people, grassroots organizations, environmentalists, human rights advocates, and others who are committed to stopping destructive river projects and promoting better options. IR has expertise in big dams, energy and water policy, climate change, and international financial institutions. We support partner organizations and dam-affected people by providing advice, training, and technical assistance, and advocating on their behalf with governments, banks, companies, and international agencies.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION

International Rivers is recruiting a Program Finance Coordinator for the Southeast Asia Program based in Thailand. The Program Finance Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the program’s accounting, finances, budgeting and reporting process in line with International Rivers’ and donors’ policies and requirements. The role will also review, monitor and provide capacity-building for partners on financial management and reports. The role requires close coordination with International Rivers’ Southeast Asia Program staff and the Finance Team, who are based outside Southeast Asia region.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Financial management and coordination

  • Consolidate financial reports and regional program accounts and provide financial data on a regular basis
  • Work with Program and Finance team to ensure timely and accurate management of program and project finances and budgets
  • Facilitate and provide financial capacity building of SEA program staff and partners to ensure staff and partners understand and comply with International Rivers’ and donors’ requirements
  • Monitor and review program and partner financial reports and budgets
  • Work with CFO and SEA Program director to ensure donor financial acquittals meet donor requirements and timelines
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with International Rivers’ financial policies and procedures
  • Review expenses and supporting documents submitted by SEA Program staff
  • Reconcile bank accounts

Budgeting

  • Work with CFO and SEA Program Director to prepare annual budgets, monitor progress towards financial objectives
  • Work with SEA Program Director on Program and project/grant budget forecasts

Audit

  • Assist CFO and SEA Program Director on audits
  • Prepare financial reports as requested

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field;
  • Demonstrated ability to produce financial reports and budgets
  • At least three years experience working in a program finance role, preferably with a non-profit organisation
  • Commitment to environmental integrity, social justice and the mission of International Rivers
  • Strong spoken and written English skills
  • Advanced Excel skills;
  • Experience using accounting software.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a Thai foundation and demonstrated understanding of financial requirements of Thai foundations
  • Experience with MIP fund account
  • Demonstrated experience in providing financial capacity building for staff and partners
