RECOFTC is inviting candidates to apply for the position of Project Coordinator as part of the Thailand Office team. The successful applicant will be based in Bangkok, with occasional travel to the field site. The contract duration is for 12 months.

 

Specific tasks and duties

The Project Coordinator will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Director, RECOFTC Thailand. The Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation of project activities, according to the project scope and ensure the project’s expected results are delivered. The Project Coordinator will also coordinate, network and engage with stakeholders, run pilot site activities and manage budgets.

 

Specific tasks and duties include:

Project management and coordination 

  • In consultation with the Director, RECOFTC Thailand, lead the design of the project implementation strategy according to the approved project and [MS1] budget plan
  • Coordinate with RECOFTC Thailand’s program, the project partners and project staff to ensure that the project activities are implemented as planned
  • Build and maintain stakeholder engagement and information exchange regarding the European Union’s initiative Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) and the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) process
  • Ensure that project results are systematically documented, monitored and evaluated and effectively feed into project planning and organizational learning
  • Work with the project team to ensure that project visibility and communication messages are delivered to target audiences
  • Write project progress reports, financial reports and other key project documents
  • Manage project operations and budgets, forecasting and monitoring project spending on a monthly basis
  • Ensure financial records and documents meet the European Union and RECOFTC financial policy and standards

Technical support

  • Lead pilot planning, implementation and monitoring, including facilitating technical support to respond to piloting needs and plans
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder meetings and processes, including coordinating with members of Thai civil society organizations and FLEGT networks to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and able to contribute to the FLEGT Voluntary Partnership Agreement process
  • Work with the project team to design capacity development plans and facilitate training workshops as planned
  • Represent RECOFTC and participate in the FLEGT VPA meetings and technical working group, ensuring progress and discussions are well documented and communicated with the project parties and donor
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Director, RECOFTC Thailand

Qualifications and experience

The Project Coordinator will have the following essential qualifications and experience:

Essential

  • Bachelor Degree (or higher) in natural resource management, forestry, social sciences or related fields 
  • At least five years of project management experience, including budget management 
  • Experience working on multi-stakeholder process, forest governance or other related development issues in Thailand
  • Experience in field coordination, working with community and various stakeholders
  • Good knowledge and understanding of forest laws, policies and timber value chain
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Good English skills with proven record of good Thai writing skills
  • Thai national only

Desirable

  • Proven experience in coordinating several project partners and stakeholders
  • Experience in meeting and networking facilitation
  • Knowledge about the FLEGT VPA, supply chain control, and sustainable forest certification
  • Good time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Output and outcome oriented
  • Willingness to travel regularly
