Digital Agriculture   Specialist

(For Climate Change Agriculture implementation in Thailand Project)

Position: Digital Agriculture   Specialist (only for Thai citizen)

AETS in association with its partners will be participating the bidding process for an ADB project Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture for Enhanced Recovery and Sustainability of Highlands.

Large area of deforestation in northern Thailand has been practice mono-cropping of maize farms due to low farmer capacity, ineffective extension support, and weak incentives for changes. The project aims to strengthen capacity of local governments and communities to cope with climate change impacts and demonstrate climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices and technologies through following activities;

(i) baseline data assessment; (ii) demonstration of climate-smart agricultural practices; (iii) enhancing agricultural product quality, value addition and market linkages and (iv) capacity of local governments and farming communities 

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

The specialist  should  have  at  least  a  bachelor’s  degree  in  ICT,  agricultural  engineering  or  related disciplines with at least 4 years of relevant work experience on digital agriculture, and a proven record  of  applications  on  the  market  in  both  Android  and  iOS.  The  consultant  will  have  strong skills in spoken and written English and report writing. Working closely with the team leader and deputy team leader.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Activities:

The consultant will

1. support the team in selecting and integrating appropriate ICT activities with a view to enhance agricultural competitiveness in highlands
2. conduct  green  technology  needs  assessment  for  agriculture  sector  and  climate  change adaptation and mitigation in highlands
3. support the international specialist to assess capacity needs and gaps of relevant stakeholders on ICT applications in    agriculture, and climate change adaptation and mitigation, and identify key actions for strengthening capacity
4. organize  workshops  to  enhance  stakeholder  capacity  for  application  of  remote  sensing, GIS and mobile phone-based applications   to improve adaptation, natural resources management and resilience 
5. assist in conduct of workshops, forums, and other knowledge events; and
6. prepare  progress reports  and  knowledge  products  on  applications  of  digital  technologies in highland agriculture while promoting JFPR visibility in various TA activities and forums.

JOB CONDITIONS:                                                                       

Local work contract, 12 person-months intermittent between 2021 to 2023 (with possibility to extend)
