Employment duration: 12-month with possibility to extend

 

  1. Background

As the world's growing population reaches the shortage and unsustainability of food and naturalresources, WWF Thailand is now launching its forest restoration project to assist local communities andguide business operators towards a more regenerative production and responsible consumptionpractice. This project is aligned with WWF's mission to stop the degradation of the planet’s naturalenvironment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. WWF Thailand plans toachieve this by engaging with local communities with various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sectors, and consumers, to drive forest landscape restoration actions. The purpose of this position is to initiate a meaningful engagement with local communities who are required to implement forest restorations on the communal land while engaging in agroforestry. The incumbent will concentrate his/her work under IKEA 7.2 project and working with relevant stakeholders in the area of national forests.  The incumbent will initiate contacts and coordinate dialogue among actors along the process of forest restoration to promote regenerative agriculture and responsible management of communal land while conserving nature, enhancing biodiversity, and fairly benefiting local communities.

 

  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Liaise and build relationship with WWF Network Forest landscape restoration under IKEA projects to understand and relay WWF’s requirements, stakeholders/platforms/partnership situation to technical providers to obtain the effective and efficient project implementation.   
  • Collaborate and work with stakeholders including rubber, oil palms, durian and other types of fruit plantations plantation smallholders, WWF, technical provider to identify and design an adaptive forest restoration intervention for IKEA 7.2 project  
  • Involve the managers to support work plan/activity plan of the projects with actions and time schedule to move forward the project progress toward the committed deliverables and timelines
  • Provide progress reports of activities, manage budget and clearing advance according to WWF requirements and running errands of assigned projects to the managers and WWF management in a prompt and timely manner

 

  1. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Social Sciences (Community Development), Environmental Science, Business Administration, or in relevant fields.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in project coordination, project management, community development, Agroforestry, forest landscape restoration, and knowledge of Multi-Actors-Platform/Partnership
  • Understand Forestry sectors, rubber silvic-culture background in Thailand or ASEAN countries
  • Thai native with written/spoken English proficiency
  • Have networking relationship with relevant stakeholders

 

  1. Working Relationships

Internal

  • Forestry Practice Manager - Learn project scope and requirements and obtain consultation for project implementation.  
  • Agri-Forestry Senior Project Officer – support and involves in work plan/activity plan of the projects IKEA 7.2 with actions and time schedule
  • Forest Landscape Restoration Coordinator - Share knowledge and information, coordinate and provide support as requested
  • Finance Division - Project expense management and report
  • WWF GMP and Forestry Network - Seek necessary advice

External

  • Technical provider and consultants to support the identification and refining of restoration interventions for smallholders under AFD-ICARE and IKEA 7.2 project requirements
  • Government at sub-national, private sectors and local and community stakeholders, - Engage with stakeholders to understand their current situation and to provide information to successfully establish a forest landscape restoration intervention adapted to the local context towards the outcomes of the project AFD-ICARE
  • Forest Landscape Restoration Platforms - Understand existing International/national/local economic crops in the working area, i.e., oil palm, rubber, fruits trees market/platforms and adapt the stakeholders engagement and forest restoration intervention techniques/model to stakeholders at all levels.
