Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.



The United Nations (UN) System wants to harmonize business operations, in particular by reducing the duplication of functions, and administrative and transaction costs. In response, the UN in Thailand will develop its first “Business Operations Strategy” (BOS). The BOS is based on a thorough business operations analysis, comprising a stocktake of the existing common business operations; a needs and opportunities analysis and a cost-benefit analysis. It provides a strategic and results-oriented outlook on business operations in five key areas: common procurement; human resources; information and communication technologies; finance; and logistics and facility services, including common premises – with a strong focus on cost effectiveness and improved quality of services across the UN agencies.


The BOS will be coordinated at the UN Thailand Operations Management Team (OMT)’s level where IOM is an active member.



Under the direct supervision of the Resource Management Officer (RMO), and in coordination with the Program Support Unit Coordinator, the successful candidate will support the execution of the administrative functions of the IOM Thailand Mission in the scope of the ongoing BOS development process at the level of the UN Thailand OMT Group. The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:


  • Support interagency meetings, including OMT meetings by scheduling meetings, consolidating agendas, sending invites and booking the venue, taking minutes.
  • Upload relevant documents and information to online platforms, organize and compile OMT archives and documents and ensure accessibility to the members.
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of OMT Group member contacts.
  • Support the OMT in the development of the BOS by assisting with the baseline analysis, needs & opportunities analysis.
  • Provide assistance with desk research, as necessary, for the OMT, to be used in preparation to the meetings.
  • Provide assistance with streamlining updated/optimized business processes at IOM Thailand in coordination with the RMO and the Program Support Unit Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned.

  • University degree in Business Management, operations, finance, auditing, logistics, procurement, management, statistics or development related field preferably with specific focus on international development and humanitarian operations or another related discipline.
  • 1-2 years of experience in leading or assisting in organization of meetings is desirable.
  • Previous internship in the UN or an international organization is desirable.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Team work oriented but with a capacity to work independently.
  • Proven writing and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skill and ability to maintain trust and good working relationship with counterparts.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Microsoft Offices literate.
  • Ability to work in a multi‐cultural environment and respect diversity.


  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Thai.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighboring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighboring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
