Job title: IT helpdesk  

Location: Maesot 

Introduction
The Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) is a field station attached to the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. It is part of the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) which is a collaborative effort between Mahidol and Oxford Universities, and is part-funded by a UK charity, the Wellcome Trust. SMRU’s aims are to:

  1. Treat and care for patients with malaria.
  2. Undertake research into malaria in this area in order to determine the best methods of prevention and treatment.

iii. To advise on the treatment and the control of malaria in the South East Asia region and more widely.

Since 2009, SMRU is engaged also in Tuberculosis program with activities on active and passive case findings, diagnosis and treatment of TB patients with updated protocol and best quality of care in full cooperation with national programs and other stakeholders

The IT Helpdesk have to ensure the operations of efficient and effective in IT systems, Network, Software, Hardware and services for the SMRU-MST office, WPA-Clinic, MKT-clinic and MLA-clinic and also support for clinic staff request. Ensure network infrastructure of (domain, internet, email, file system, Lap stock, OPD/IPD, ANC system), training, maintenance and monitoring of all computers and IT equipment.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Manage hardware & software maintenance of IT equipment including network infrastructure in SMRU-Maesot office.
  • Keeps computer equipment, hardware, and software updated to meet organizational needs.
  • Maintain inventory of SMRU IT fixed assets, equipment and software, identify and report obsolete equipment.
  • Maintain internet connectivity and computer hardware to be compliant with SMRU minimum standards in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and monitoring the SMRU office, about computer system, resolving computer problems.
  • Assist with the upgrading and/or replacing computerized parts to maximize efficiency of office.
  • Provide on-going technical support and visit SMRU clinics for regular hardware/software maintenance and overall.
  • Provide orientation for new staffs on IT, network and equipment usage to ensure good operation.
  • Other duties delegation by senior helpdesk and Managements.

 

Education

  • Bachelor degree in IT or equivalent technical college diploma

  

Essential Criteria

  • 2-3 years in IT industry experience in Helpdesk or desktop support.
  • Fluent in Karen or Burmese and basic Thai and English
  • Good communication skills
  • Motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Ready to any assignment required by the unit
