Finance Assistant

Position:  Finance Assistant

Assignment duration: 1 Year Fixed- Term Contract with possibility of extension

Duty station: Bangkok

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Plan International Thailand (PIT) has been working in Thailand in 1981 and most of its work is now located in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and the greater Bangkok area with projects also in Tak, Trat and Phang Nga provinces.  Over the years, Plan International Thailand’s work has covered the areas of Child Protection, Early Childhood Care and Development, Disaster Risk Management, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, advancing rights of stateless and migrant children and youth, fair recruitment practices for migrant families, and youth economic empowerment, especially for girls.  During FY 2019 – 2022, Plan International Thailand has focused on three Country Programme Areas: 1) Gender and women’s empowerment and justice, 2) Children on the move, and 3) Legal status and citizenship. 

 

Plan International Thailand’s country strategy (2022-27) will deepen the organization’s focus on advancing children’s rights and striving for equality of girls and youth in all of their diversity in Thailand.  Particular focus will be on gender transformative approaches with Plan International’s Areas of Global Distinctiveness (AOGD) programme areas on youth employment and empowerment, sexual reproductive health and rights, protection, and empowering children and youth to advance their rights and decide on their own life course. 

 

The Finance Assistant is a key position of the Plan International Thailand Finance Team for processing payments and providing accounting support for monthly reports. The position works closely with the Partner Finance and Administration Support Specialist.

 

Core role and responsibilities:

 

Overall

The role is responsible for ensuring that finance processes compliance with Plan’s policies/

procedures and Thai law and ensure relevant documents/transactions accuracy and timely submission of transactions including to support financial reports / documents as needed. 

 

Financial Processing

 

  • Checks completeness and correctness of financial supporting documents for voucher and liquidation reports as per Plan International financial protocols and policies.
  • Prepares payment vouchers and journal vouchers and filling.
  • Prepares Tax report and payment to submit online to The Revenue Department.
  • Provides support for Finance information and reports when requested.
  • Reconciles balance sheet such as travel advances, WHT.
  • Prepares bank reconciliations and target bank balance.
  • Processes intercompany recharges invoices.
  • Maintains cash flow management and monthly Fund requests.
  • Coordinates with banks for all related bank business.
  • Prepares payments for online banking and transactions.
  • Maintains well-organized financial documents both hard copy and soft file for easy reference, especially during an audit.
  • Support month end closing process.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

 

Accounting and financial reports

 

  • Liaise with Partner Finance and Administration Support Specialist on reviewing as well as supporting documents required for audits.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance standards of financial records and statements as needed.

 

Internal coordination and teamwork

 

  • Informs new and existing Plan staff of financial supporting documents required for making payments as well as other required financial policies.
  • Supports team during audit processes.

 

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential

  • University degree in accounting or related field
  • 0-2 years experiences in accounting field
  • Able to use MS Office, relevant software; SAP or similar background are advantage
  • Negotiation, teamworking and coordinating skills.
  • Details oriented and good management
  • Having NGO experiences is advantage
  • Good communication both written and spoken in Thai
  • Basic English communication skills; written and spoken
