ADRA Thailand is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Education Coordinator based in Mae Sot, Tak Province, Thailand

 

Proposed Start Date: March 2023

Job overview:

The Education Coordinator will serve as the focal point for Basic Education in Transition project (BEST 6) and lead in the coordination of the project with the consortium partners at the field level in close coordination with the Program Director and Program Manager. The primary objective is to support delivery of basic education services seven refugee camps.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight and coordination of project implementation;
  • Contribute to the knowledge management, monitoring, evaluation and learning to strengthen and measure educational achievements;
  • Establish and maintain appropriate education coordination mechanism through PTAs, School Management Committees and with stakeholders at camp level.
  • In line with the Camp standards, facilitate assessments of schools for repairs and renovation, the identification, procurement and distribution of school supplies, teaching and learning materials;
  • Promote appropriate attention to priority cross cutting issues such as protection, gender equality and inclusion;
  • Coordinate sector-wide emergency preparedness and emergency response;
  • Provide inputs for the development of key advocacy messages
  • Make regular camp visits to oversee and support the project activities, meet with camp stakeholders, and maintain positive relationships in camps;
  • Coordinate with the project staff to consolidate periodic project progress reports;
  • Represent ADRA in the Education sector working group meetings.
  • Maintain positive communication with all stakeholders as required;
  • Coordinate and liaise with relevant authorities, camp based entities and relevant stakeholders to ensure meaningful inclusion of community participation throughout the project; 
  • Ensure the implementation of safe programmes by being alert and responsive to safeguarding risks in project communities.
  • Perform other tasks as required by the Program Manager.

Preferred candidates are expected to meet the following:

Minimum Skills & Education Required:

 

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Education, Community Development or related field

Experience:                                               

  • At least 5 years experience in education projects 

Language Skills:

  • Strong Thai verbal and written language skills
  • Strong English verbal and written language skills
  • Strong Karen and/or Burmese verbal and written language skills

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a Christian context
  • Must be willing to travel and work in remote camps along the Thai – Myanmar border
  • Beneficiary focused
  • High level of flexibility, self-motivated and committed
  • Willingness to implement policies and procedures with a professional and constructive attitude
  • Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Including Microsoft Office proficiency)
  • Understanding of diversity in working environment
  • Valid driving license is required
