WHO ARE WE?

Mae Sot is home to a large Karen minority which is one of the most vulnerable populations in Thailand. In 2009, the IECD and its local partner, the Tak Border Child Assistance Foundation, opened the HCTC (Hospitality-Catering Training Center) in order to support young people by offering them a chance to access promising jobs in the hospitality-catering sector.

Every year, the center offers about 30 new intakes the opportunity to learn all associated trades in the sector, over a two-year period. Each student completes a 6-motnhs internships and practices every week at ″The Passport″ traning restaurant and French bakery. The students all board and receive solid basic training in life skills, a guarantee of success for their personal development and professional integration.

HOSPITALITY TEACHER

Mission

The HOSPITALITY trainer aims to provide quality training to HCTC students of basics of hospitality in the Kitchen and Service department mainly. The key role of the trainer will be to ensure an active pedagogy implemented in the classes and collaborate closely with the Operations team to balance the training in class and the training received at the Passport Training Restaurant.  

You will be sharing your years of knowledge and experience with the next generation of hospitality workers, supporting them throughout their 2-years learning at the HCTC.

 

Main responsibilities

TRAINING (Education team)

  • Responsible for the instruction of the service, kitchen, bakery and basics of hospitality (safety, hygiene and maintenance). **The modules will be taught in a classroom-based set up, the operations teams will be responsible for the practical learning at the training restaurant of the school. Therefore, it is essential to keep a clear and constant communication between the education team and operation to ensure quality training for students.
  • Responsible to create the lesson plans and assessment activities following the pedagogical sheets of HCTC.
  • Participate in teacher’s activities as requested (weekly meetings, monthly reviews, class councils and training)
  • Participate in school’s activities as requested (fun days, orientation week of students, English camp, open house, families’ meetings, etc)

 

REQUIREMENTS

> Must have +2 years of experience in teaching youth, ideally in the SE Asia environment. Ideally, with expertise in student centered approaches and competency-based learning.

> Must have good communication skills both in English and Thai language (Karen is a plus)

> Passion about quality education practices and teaching improvement/reflection

> Knowledge & experience in hospitality / Experience in the hospitality background(option to be further trained in the area if requested)
> Must be punctual, reliable and capable to adapt to the local environment

 

CONTRACT TYPE:

> 1 year contract with possibility of extension.

> 3 months’ probation.

> Contract under Tak Border Child Assitance Foundation (TBCAF) with accidents insurance included

> Salary according to experience
