Coordinator, Casework

The Mission

International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global organization that protects the vulnerable from violence by partnering with government authorities to rescue victims, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen criminal justice systems so they protect the vulnerable from violence and abuse long-term.  IJM is a global team of lawyers, social workers and other professionals.  IJM has 19 field offices across the globe, including multiple offices in Southeast Asia.  IJM is headquartered in Washington, DC.  In Thailand, IJM Foundation works with Thai authorities and non-government partners to eliminate human trafficking and forced labor from the Thai fishing and seafood industries, with support from the Walmart Foundation.  IJM lawyers, fieldworkers, social workers and other professionals support Thai law enforcement, social services, prosecutors and the courts to identify and prosecute cases of forced labor and human trafficking crimes, and restore labor trafficking survivors to safety and strength, while IJM’s Public Engagement team works to build strategic partnerships with civil society organizations, corporate and business stakeholders, local community and faith leaders and other partners of good will.

Job Brief:  

 IJM Foundation is seeking a talented Coordinator, Casework to support the Casework Heads of Department (HODs) and Senior Manager, Program Support in monitoring and coordinating the IJM Foundation Casework teams. The Coordinator, Casework would bear his/her organizational and administrative abilities to impart a high level of coordination and cooperation between departments. This position is based in Bangkok, Thailand and may require occasional travel within Thailand. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Program Suppport.

Key Result Areas:

  1. Support the Casework Heads of Department (HODs) and Senior Manager, Program Support in monitoring and coordinating the IJM Foundation cases.
  2. Maintain smooth functioning through clear, regular and constructive communication within the Casework team and across teams in the Field Office
  3. Oversee, assess and continually improve the data entry practices of the teams, and the quarterly reporting process.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans for cases to address gaps or capitalize on strengths in each team, work with the Senior Manager, Program Support and Foundation Director to see IJM Foundation’s vision accomplished through casework.

Casework Operations & Coordination

  1. Lead logistical and organizational efforts of major casework events and operations, including Multidisciplinary Team Human Trafficking Victim Identification (MDTs), prosecutor interviews, arrest and rescue operations, trial and court-related processes.
  2. Participate in case review meetings and briefings with Thai law enforcement, governmental partners and other NGOs, which involves multi-disciplinary coordination across casework teams.
  3. Assist Casework HODs and Legal & Aftercare team in all tasks and planning during major casework events, operations and case review meetings/briefings.
  4. Regularly accompany Casework teams in their field trips to provide logistical support, as well as to identify gaps and needs of each team.


  1. Maintain clear and open channels of communication regarding cases between teams, by working closely and communicating frequently with Casework Heads of Departments (HODs).
  2. Serve as the focal point on case-related communication between IJM Bangkok and IJM Cambodia, and on all incoming referrals from partner organizations.
  3. Organize regular casework team meetings as requested by Casework HODs.
  4. Keep a record of key decisions made and maintain up-to-date meeting notes, following up on action points with individuals as appropriate;
  5. Work closely with Senior Associate, Communications and Media to fact-check and verify information on Breaking News Templates, Press Releases and other communications projects post-major casework operations, and corroborate information with relevant Casework staff.

Documentation, Reporting & Data Management

  1. Conduct trainings and onboarding of new Program staff, interns and fellows to the Casework Tracking and Management System (CTMS).
  2. Conduct daily reviews of case updates on all case communication channels and corroborate information across various platforms.
  3. Facilitate weekly data quality checks of CTMS data entry and work proactively with Casework teams to assist their revision process.
  4. Oversee, assess and continually improve the data entry practices of the teams, and the quarterly reporting process.
  5. Continually update internal case trackers and casework documents, and conduct English-Thai translations of said documents when requested.
  6. Assist Senior Manager, Program Support and Associate, M&E and date in monitoring and verifying all reported Casework Progress Indicators (CPIs) as part of the Quarterly Reporting Process.

General tasks

  1. Plan for and arrange other inter-departmental meetings whenever necessary.
  2. Identify opportunities for collaboration between teams and facilitate these.
  3. Be responsible for handling assigned special casework-related and program support projects.
  4. Work with the Senior Manager, Program Support to develop, review and ensure implementation of casework strategies, processes and protocols.


This role reports to the Senior Manager, Program Support.

Education & Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Management, Social Work, Social Sciences or related field preferred.
  2. Experience in casework, case management, administration or communication preferred.

Technical Competencies:

  1. Exceptional written and oral communication in English and Thai required.
  2. High proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Access or other database management programs desirable.

Non-Technical Competencies:

  1. High degree of organization, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  2. Professional presentation in demeanor and written and oral communication.
  3. Exceptionally high level of honesty and integrity.
  4. Meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, ability to take initiative and provide constructive feedback, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Disciplined with priorities and works well under deadline pressures.

  9. Passionate commitment to and understanding of IJM Foundation mission.
