Accounts Officer

RECOFTC holds a unique and important place in the world of forestry. It is the only international not‐for‐profit organization that specializes in capacity development for community forestry and devolved forest management whilst taking a landscape approach to natural resource management. The Center engages in strategic networks and effective partnerships with governments, nongovernment organizations, civil society, the private sector, local people, and research and educational institutes throughout the Asia‐Pacific region and beyond. With over 30 years of international experience and a dynamic approach to capacity development—involving research, analysis and synthesis; strategic communication; training and learning networks; and piloting and demonstrating— The Center delivers innovative solutions for people and forests.


To address the needs and challenges of the Asia‐Pacific region, the RECOFTC has developed an innovative new strategy (2018-2023) to help local people find solutions together with government, the private sector, development partners, local institutes, academia, media and others. Building on its previous strategic phases, the 2018–2023 Strategic Plan puts people at the center of change, by empowering communities, governments and the private sector with rights, opportunities for dialogue, networking, technical expertise, tools and knowledge. RECOFTC results will help nearly 5 million people in and near forest landscapes live more equitably, with dignity and greater empowerment to protect themselves from the injustices of poverty and environmental degradation.


RECOFTC is currently seeking a candidate to work as the Accounts Officer and be part of the Corporate Services team. The successful applicant will be based in Bangkok, Thailand. The contract duration is for 24 months with a possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. The position is for Thai national only.



The Accounts Officer is responsible for the maintaining and processing transactions in the SAP system according to RECOFTC policies and procedures and donor requirements. S/he will also support the external and internal audit process required for RECOFTC Main Office and its projects and also for the country offices. The Accounts Officer will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Finance Coordinator and be part of Corporate Services Team.



Detailed responsibilities and duties of the Accounts Officer are listed below:


Treasury & Payment

  • Process routine settlement for the Main and Country Offices
  • Review SAP batch list entries for journal voucher, payment voucher, and purchase order. (check batch list against Vouchers before posting)
  • Assist Finance Coordinator in checking and reviewing financial vouchers (payment/ settlement/ received / petty cash voucher) processed by Account Assistants/Program Administrative Officer to ensure the correctness of transactions and post into SAP system
  • Perform monthly cash and fund reconciliation with bank balance for RECOFTC and its projects
  • Perform bank reconciliation for both RECOFTC and project accounts
  • Support Finance Coordinator to prepare estimated monthly Cash Flow

Reporting & Management Information

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, and annual work plan budget for Finance & Accounting section
  • Assist Finance Coordinator in month-end closing of accounts for both RECOFTC and its projects. Ensure the revenue and expenditure is completely recorded in a proper period. At year-end closing, making sure with Program Administrative Officer and Country’s Accounts and Administrative Officer that all necessary accrued expenses for a period have been recorded (review trial balance to provide adjustments if any)
  • Responsible to prepare the monthly summary of assigned balance sheet accounts to ensure the correctness of balance remained in the system
  • Assist Finance Coordinator in the process of internal audit/ external audit for the Main and Country Offices as requested
  • Provide detail of accounting transactions to team members and other staff when requested
  • Coordinate with the Country Program’s Accounts & Administration Officers and other staff in all countries regarding finance and accounting issues, and provide necessary support/solutions when required


  • Update and monitor fixed assets in SAP system, including annual fixed asset physical verification, depreciation and amortization charge. Responsible for fixed asset register report, movement during the year and ensure the balance has been reconciled with GL for RECOFTC’s main office and projects
  • Perform physical check of Inventory (RECOFTC souvenirs) to verify inventory existence and make adjustment if required
  • Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the Finance Coordinator


The Accounts Officer will have the following essential and desirable qualifications and experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 3-5 years working experience in similar capacity, preferably in a non-profit organization or audit firm
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-tasking and meet deadlines
  • Experience in working on the SAP accounting system  
  • Proficient in use of application software such as the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Power point
  • English language proficiency
  • Hand-on experience and able to work independently with minimum supervisor
  • Thai Nationality



  • A confident and mature personality and positive attitude
  • Outgoing and service-minded
  • Experience in project and/or Finance and  administration
